TOONA IQALIQ (1935-2015)

Toona Iquliq was a highly respected Inuit artist from Baker Lake, Nunavut. He was known to carve primarily in steatite (soapstone), working particularly in more abstract, rounded form ranging from human figures and Arctic animals. He had a significant career spanning over 50 years, with his work exhibited across North America and Europe. His children, JohnnyLouie, and Camill, are also well-known carvers.
